Gross GST collection for the first seven months of the year was Rs 14,77,569 crore, up 13.2% from the same period last year. Net collection was Rs 12,69,486 crore, up 12.6%.
PTI reported that this is the second month in a row above Rs 2 lakh crore, and the second highest ever after about Rs 2.43 lakh crore in April 2026. It also reported that festive buying helped domestic demand. The Hindustan Times noted that the October 2025 base was lower partly because the compensation cess was phased out in February 2026, so the growth is not a pure like-for-like comparison.
