ICICI Bank new charges from 1 December 2026: cash deposit, withdrawal and NACH bounce
ICICI Bank raises cash charges above ₹1 lakh a month and NACH bounce fees from 1 December 2026. Free limits, new rates and who is affected.
ICICI Bank will change some savings and salary account charges from 1 December 2026. The new rates are in an annexure added to the schedule of charges for each account type on the bank's website, marked "with effect from 1st Dec 2026". The bank has also written to customers about it. Here is what changes and what does not.
GST at 18% is added to every charge below.
Cash at the branch and in cash machines
These rules cover cash deposits and withdrawals at branches and deposits in cash recycler machines. ATM withdrawals with your debit card have separate limits and do not change.
- Free transactions: 3 cash deposits and 3 cash withdrawals a month stay free, as now. Each extra transaction costs ₹150, as now.
- Free amount: up to ₹1 lakh a month of cash deposits and, separately, ₹1 lakh of cash withdrawals stays free.
- Above ₹1 lakh a month: from 1 December 2026 the charge goes up from ₹3.50 to ₹4 per ₹1,000, or ₹150, whichever is higher.
- Both limits crossed: if one transaction is over both the count and the amount limit, you pay the higher of the two charges, not both.
Example: you deposit ₹1.5 lakh in cash in a month in 2 visits. The first ₹1 lakh is free. On the extra ₹50,000 you pay ₹200 at ₹4 per ₹1,000, instead of ₹175 today, plus GST.
Wealth and Private Banking customers with a relationship value of ₹50 lakh, or deposits and balances of ₹10 lakh, get 15 free cash transactions a month and ₹15 lakh free each way. Above that they also pay ₹4 per ₹1,000, up from ₹3.50.
The same cash rates are in the schedules for senior citizen, salary and most other savings accounts. Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBDA) and Jan Dhan accounts still have no cash transaction charge.
NACH and ECS bounce charges
A NACH or ECS debit bounces when there is not enough money in your account for an EMI, SIP, insurance premium or other auto debit.
- First bounce in a month on a mandate: ₹500, as now.
- Second and third bounce on the same mandate in that month: ₹550 each from 1 December 2026, up from ₹500.
- The bank charges for at most 3 bounces a month on one mandate.
This change applies to every savings account type, including BSBDA and Jan Dhan accounts. Your lender, fund house or insurer may also charge its own bounce fee on top.
Demand drafts
CNBC-TV18 and Mint report that the customer email also says demand drafts below ₹1 lakh will be free, and drafts of ₹1 lakh and above will cost ₹2 per ₹1,000, at most ₹15,000. Today the charge is ₹2 per ₹1,000 with a minimum of ₹40. The schedules on the bank's website did not show this change when we checked on 23 October 2026, so confirm it at your branch before you buy a draft.
What you can do
Keep your monthly branch cash under ₹1 lakh each way and within 3 visits, or use your debit card at ATMs, UPI and online transfers, which these rules do not charge. Keep enough money in the account a day before each EMI or SIP date, because a second bounce in a month now costs more. To see the rules for your own account, open the schedule of charges for your account type on ICICI Bank's service charges page.
